Mesopotamia
Did you know that Mesopotamia was the first civilization ever on the face of the Earth? There was three main things about Mesopotamia religion, inventions, and the people.
In Mesopotamia religion was a very big thing. First of all, they believed in an afterlife (life after death). Also the Sumerians believed that the Kings court should sacrifice themselves when their King dies. Furthermore the Sumerians had more than 3,000 gods, one of them the Sun God. Plus, the Sumerians had a tower called a Ziggurat. Last the Assyrians had giant stone guardians to protect their cities.
It’s also true that the Mesopotamians made many inventions, being the first civilization. An example of this is that the Sumerians created the pottery wheel, metal plow, arches in cities, and a form of writing called cuneiform. Besides that, there was a number system based on the number sixty. In addition to this they had a clock that was run by water. Also, they made many necklaces of gold.
The people of Mesopotamia were very brilliant. For instance they were the first to form a government, write history, start schools, to make irrigation canals, and to keep records. Some jobs they had were priests and farmers. Although most of them don’t know how to read. Not only that, but their favorite sport in Assyria was lion hunting. Now you see why the Mesopotamians were so important with their religion, inventions, and…….. them. I wonder if we will ever find out everything about the Mesopotamians, but there is hope.
