Today we went to CC3C and it was FUN! In my group there was Kevin, Jared H., Jaime, Shelby, Carli, Macy, Mrs. Ekstrom, and of course me. Our first challenge was the swinging log. It was kinda easy but fun. The easiest one was the porthole. Although the three funnest ones were the meat grinder, the Mohawk walk, and the human ladder. The meals a CC3C were really delicious. The turkey and mashed potatoes were the best. All of the skits and songs at the talent show were very good and oddly hysterical. I liked the mixed up hands, 12 days of L.A., jingle bells school remix, and mocking the teachers.

Pretty much CC3C was THE BEST FIELD TRIP EVER!

In L.A. today we handed in our pen pal letters and paragraphs on sharing a room can be difficult. Then we shared some of our paragraphs. We needed to include two of the five golden bricks in our paragraph. The golden bricks that we had to include were a statistic and an anecdote. An example of a statistic is 82% of our class prefers to sleep by themselves. An example of an anecdote is I remember the time when I shared a room with my sister and she talked in her sleep.

The other golden bricks are quote, an amazing fact, and a descriptive segment. Quotes are something that somebody said in a point in time. In a quote there must be quotation marks, the name of the person who said it, and why anybody should listen to them. An example of a quote is “The Porter boys basketball team has just ended the season undefeated,” announced Mr. Vangelder the basketball coach.

Amazing facts have to be very unusual and never been heard of before. Examples are in your agendas within the offbeat oddity. An amazing fact is like this: did you know that a jiffy is a real measurement of time, it is a 1/100 of a second. The fact that the Yankees lost to Boston is not an amazing fact.

Last, a descriptive segment is a sentence or two that has adjectives from each of your senses(sight, hearing, taste, feeling, and smell). If you have a sentence with six adjectives that does not make it a descriptive segment. A descriptive segment would look like this: the waves of the ocean look like sailboats with the wind howling and making the hair on the captain’s head stick strait up. The water of the big blue smells of rotten fish, and the salt that blows into their mouths taste horrible.

with flowers in it.

For now he’s in a basket,

but on christmas he’ll be loved.

Snow dogs and snow cats,

wearing little scarves and hats.

Snowflakes are so bright,

sparkling in the winter night.

In the winter they don’t fight.

Nathan Sawaya built a city kinda like this one (above) but he modeled his off of the city of New Orleans. Except his city had 120,000 legos! Some quotes from him are “My sculpture celebrates the rebirth of the city” “When people look at it, I want them to smile.” Also each school in New Orleans is to recive 1,000,000+ lego bricks donated by U.S.kids.
