Life here in Turkey had changed a lot when Mustafa Kemal was president. He had changed rules, and the people that live in Turkey.

Mustafa Kemal (otherwise known as Kemal Atatürk) had gotten rid of some rules and made new ones during his presidency. I remember when we were praying and Kemal banned the fez, so we had to pray without our fezzes. After that we all had to wear brimmed hats everywhere we went. Something else the ”father of the turks” changed was that no women can wear veils (a cloth that hides their face). Although he did give women the right to vote and girls were allowed to go to school. Next, he moved the capital of our country from Istanbul to Ankara. And the last thing he changed was our language to something similar to the Roman alphabet, he made the newspaper, books and street signs to this language.

Sincerely,

Oktar
