In North India the people are everywhere, the heat is booming, and the cow is more sacred then anything. The first place I will start is in Varanasi where the most sacred river in Hinduism (the Ganges) is. To the people of Hindu, the Ganges is so sacred that when people die they are thrown into it. People come from everywhere to bathe and pray in the Ganges so that the god Shiva is pleased. Next, we come to the Taj Mahal, a giant monument that was built for the Shah’s wife when she died. The 20,000 people that built it began in 1631 to 1648 on the beautiful example of Mughal architecture. Now to look at the Hinduism ceremonies. There is the celebrations of Krishna’s birth 3,500 years ago. Also there is the holy book of Hindu, called the Gita. Now we come to the last stop at Dehli, new and old. The New Dehli is a big place ( 3rd biggest in India) with lots of people and hotels. But, Old Dehli was under Muslim control.

Without oil we would be nowhere, because tires, tennis rackets, trash bags, toothpaste, crayons, parachutes, telephones, and even shoes are products of oil not to mention gasoline. But now the oil in the ground (crude oil) is running low and the prices are getting high.

According to U.S. scientists there is about 2.6 trillion barrels(which is 109,200,000,000,000 gallons) left in the ground. 1.7 of it is discovered oil or oil that has been found. Although, there are 900 billion barrels that has not been found. Furthermore, when half of the oil is found in one place the oil is harder to pump out, so the 2.6 trillion barrels is almost cut in half. After doing that math, Paul Roberts(the author of the book The End of Oil) says that in 2030 the world oil supply will peak and start to go way down.

Some Ideas to fix this problem are to drive gas/electric cars, installing the most efficient heating and cooling systems in buildings, and switch from oil to solar or wind to power things. We will never know when the world will run out of oil, but it is coming so we need to research ideas quickly.

Life here in Turkey had changed a lot when Mustafa Kemal was president. He had changed rules, and the people that live in Turkey.

Mustafa Kemal (otherwise known as Kemal Atatürk) had gotten rid of some rules and made new ones during his presidency. I remember when we were praying and Kemal banned the fez, so we had to pray without our fezzes. After that we all had to wear brimmed hats everywhere we went. Something else the ”father of the turks” changed was that no women can wear veils (a cloth that hides their face). Although he did give women the right to vote and girls were allowed to go to school. Next, he moved the capital of our country from Istanbul to Ankara. And the last thing he changed was our language to something similar to the Roman alphabet, he made the newspaper, books and street signs to this language.

The first thing I liked about camp was the initiatives. I remember when we were doing the spider web and Jared H. crawled under the web and got mud all over his pants. When we were doing the Mohawk walk ( which was one of my favorites) it felt like walking across a tightrope. Another initiative that I liked was the human ladder because when your crawling on it you think you’re going to fall but you don’t. My favorite initiative was the meat grinder, and our task was to was to get on, over, and off without falling.

Something else that was fun at C3CC was the talent show hosted by Meghan K. and Emily G. An act that I liked was the mixed up hands by Rebecca, Meghan, and Catlin where Rebecca’s hands are frivolous. Another act I liked was I’ve Been Waiting For The Shower by Kevin K. and Jared H. When the Eagles song was sang it felt like being at a football game. Finally, last but not least, I remember when four kids imitated the four teachers Mr.Lawrence, Mrs. Ekstrom, Ms. VanOstrand, and Mr. Hetherington, then the teachers imitated four students, and they were Jamie, Mike L., Mike L., and Micaela.

In L.A. today we handed in our pen pal letters and paragraphs on sharing a room can be difficult. Then we shared some of our paragraphs. We needed to include two of the five golden bricks in our paragraph. The golden bricks that we had to include were a statistic and an anecdote. An example of a statistic is 82% of our class prefers to sleep by themselves. An example of an anecdote is I remember the time when I shared a room with my sister and she talked in her sleep.

The other golden bricks are quote, an amazing fact, and a descriptive segment. Quotes are something that somebody said in a point in time. In a quote there must be quotation marks, the name of the person who said it, and why anybody should listen to them. An example of a quote is “The Porter boys basketball team has just ended the season undefeated,” announced Mr. Vangelder the basketball coach.

Amazing facts have to be very unusual and never been heard of before. Examples are in your agendas within the offbeat oddity. An amazing fact is like this: did you know that a jiffy is a real measurement of time, it is a 1/100 of a second. The fact that the Yankees lost to Boston is not an amazing fact.

Last, a descriptive segment is a sentence or two that has adjectives from each of your senses(sight, hearing, taste, feeling, and smell). If you have a sentence with six adjectives that does not make it a descriptive segment. A descriptive segment would look like this: the waves of the ocean look like sailboats with the wind howling and making the hair on the captain’s head stick strait up. The water of the big blue smells of rotten fish, and the salt that blows into their mouths taste horrible.
